🎯 Overview
This policy explains what information SmoothKey ("the app") handles, what leaves your device, and the choices you control. It applies to the iOS app and its keyboard extension.
🚫 What we do NOT collect
- No analytics or usage statistics — the app contains no analytics SDKs.
- No advertising — there are no ads and no ad SDKs.
- No tracking or profiling — no trackers, no fingerprints, no identifiers for advertising.
- No accounts — the app never asks you to sign up or log in.
- No message logs — your message text is processed in real time to generate replies and is not saved on our servers.
- No contacts, photos or other personal data — the app cannot access them.
📱 What is stored on your device
The following is kept in the app's local storage on your iPhone, and is removed when you delete the app:
- App preferences: default style, optional first names you enter to personalize replies, saved phrases.
- Subscription status and the start time of your free trial, stored so the app knows which features are unlocked.
- A random device identifier used solely to enforce our fair-use request limits.
🤖 How AI replies work — and your permission
AI reply generation is off until you allow it. The first time you use it, the app shows a clear consent screen explaining what is sent and to whom, and asks for your permission.
When you generate a reply (after you have allowed it):
- What is sent: the message you copied (or pasted), the reply style you picked, and a random device identifier for fair-use limits. Nothing else — no contacts, no identifiers, no keystrokes.
- Who it is sent to: our AI service, operated for SmoothKey on Cloudflare, which forwards the request to our AI model provider DeepSeek (deepseek.com) to generate the reply.
- How it is used: only to generate the reply suggestions shown to you. It is never stored, sold, shared with advertisers, or used to train profiles about you.
- The request travels over HTTPS. How DeepSeek processes requests is governed by DeepSeek's Privacy Policy.
Turning AI replies off: in the app's Settings, toggle "AI Reply Suggestions" off. AI generation stops immediately; the offline Lines feature keeps working.
⌨️ Keyboard extension & Full Access
SmoothKey includes a custom keyboard so you can generate replies without leaving your chat app. iOS requires "Full Access" for a keyboard to access the network and the clipboard.
- If you do not enable Full Access: the keyboard still works normally for typing, but AI replies are unavailable.
- If you enable Full Access: the keyboard reads the clipboard only when you open the AI Reply panel or tap Paste, to pick up the message you want to reply to. Clipboard content stays in memory and is only used to build your request.
- Characters you type go straight into the app you are typing in. The keyboard does not log or store keystrokes, and keystrokes are never transmitted anywhere.
💳 Purchases
Subscriptions are processed entirely by Apple. We never see your payment details. See your Apple ID account for purchase history and management.
🧒 Children
SmoothKey is rated 17+ and is not directed at children under 17. We do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.
🗑️ Your control
- Turn AI replies off (or back on) at any time in the app's Settings.
- Turn off Full Access for the keyboard at any time in iOS Settings.
- Delete the app to remove every piece of locally stored data — instantly and completely.

If we ever change this policy, we will update this page and the "effective" date below.
